Gerry Loves Records Presents: Trapped In Kansas and Yahweh

That little great label that is Gerry Loves Records returns once again with a new split vinyl, featuring another couple of hand-picked artists who can claim to be of the very best of the current Scottish musical panorama.

After the successful release of the first split single with Conquering Animal Sound and Debutant, it is now time to move the spotlight on Trapped In Kansas and Yahweh, all very young lads who have rapidly proved to be made of pure quality.

Side A of the carefully hand-made vinyl features Towerblock, the new single by Trapped In Kansas. I need not go over again this Ayrshire four-piece, but it’s only a wonderful confirmation that their talent is still all there by listening to Towerblock. Finely produced, you can hear how they are slowly evolving and maturing in this delicate track with a tinge of sorrow, as frontman Finn Le Marinel sings “Slow down sad clown, your legs are broken”. Another excellent example of their PhD’s in guitar science.

On the other hand, or side, is a young new name that, although different than their vinyl companions, shares a few similarities with the Kansas prisoners. Yahweh debuts in the vinyl world with Make Me Stop, a track that blends beautifully well ambient, electronica and pop, making for some extremely comfortable sounds. It possesses all the power of pop that lets you listen to it and find it familiar from play one, yet it marries it with the relaxing and dreamy sounds of ambient and percussion; it simply plays beautifully well.

Both artists will be playing together at a couple of venues to showcase their talents to everyone who will be smart enough to attend. You will be able to find them at The Wee Red Bar (Edinburgh) on the 29 July and at Nice n Sleazy (Glasgow) on the 30 July.

Head over to the Gerry Loves Records website for more info on the gigs and, of course, to pre-order this little gem of a vinyl.
